RAINBOW BRIDGE
( author unknown )

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.

The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together...

Rosie, 9 years

My Rosie girl, how I will miss you, your loving lil' orange cheek against mine. When I walked thru the pet store where they were selling you, you jumped 2 feet off a cage on to me and wouldn't leave; you picked me. I thought I would have another 9 or so years with you... And your mate Dusty will be calling for you for a long time.

Sammi, 13 years

Oh my Sammi girl, how my heart is breaking.... she was such a good friend, to me, my husband, my Dad, my Mom. We will mourn her for a long time... She is back with her buddy Carly now, where they will be tumbling all about, together once again.

Dinky Dao, 12 years

My little easter egg baby, would have been 13 in another month. He was my first bird, and will always be my favorite. He wasn't afraid of anything, would chase the cats and the dogs around the house. Loved to play in water, he was so funny to watch, but never again......

Jessie, 17 years

I had to euthanze my Jessie today, we've had her since she was 6 weeks old. Her kidneys shut down, she wouldn't eat anymore. I knew it was coming, but.... I know she's better off now, and I'll see her again at the rainbow bridge.

Shadow, 17 years

What a way to start 2003 off, having to lose a friend of 17 years. My Shadow kitty, her kidneys just finally gave out on her. But she and I did have a good long time together, and I am grateful for that. But I sure do miss her....

Carly, 13 years

( the following was written by Dan )
On Saturday, I took Donna a pizza for lunch at the animal clinic. There was a puppy there that I played with and then took it home just for the weekend. That weekend ended 13 years later on July 16th, 2001, at 7am when I found Carly dead of heart failure; you see she had a heart murmur ( it murmured "I love everyone" ). Donna and I took Carly back to the clinic, it was one GREAT WEEKEND!

Wedgehead, 4 years

Wedgie was our little "brat cat", she was a scaredy cat, but would snuggle when she wanted it. Loved to have her belly rubbed, the harder, the better. Nobody saw her except the people who live in the house, or after staying here for a few days.

Petie, (at least) 10 years

We were Petie's 2nd owners, unfortunately he was a biter. He loved to be talked to, just not handled.

Roger, (at least) 12 years

We were Roger's 3rd owners, and we miss him a lot (even though he chewed up all the wood he could get hold of). He loved starchy veggies, he would dive in and eat, get his beak/face full of it, then shake his head and throw it everywhere, LOL! He always joined us for meals :-)

Katie, 17 years

Katie was one of the best and smartest dogs one could have in their lives. After Dan trained her, she would train her daughter (Kelly).

Kelly, 15 years

Kelly was a cute little dog, kind of wimpy though. She should have belonged to someone who could have just held her in their lap 24/7.

Dumb Dog, 8 years

Oh, our D.D., she was our "special" child, just as dumb as a box of rocks, but just as lovable as any creature could ever be. She was abandoned as a pup, after being thrown down steps; she had seizures all her life, and more rare problems than any dog on earth! We always knew that she'd never live a long life, but any time with her was well spent. I could go on forever about her, maybe another time....

Regan, 12 years

Regan was MY first dog, and will always hold a special place in my heart. I learned a lot about dogs from her, and am grateful to her for sharing her life with me.

Motor, 2 years

Motor was a nice little kitty, she really showed Dan how nice cats are, She had the loudest purr I've ever heard, hence her name.

These are the pets that Dan and I were priviledged to share our lives and love with; most of them were rescued animals. Please take a chance and rescue an animal for yourself, they bring such joy and love into your life. donna

MY FOREVER PET
( author unknown )

There's something missing in my home,
I feel it day and night,
I know it will take time and strength,
Before things feel quite right.

But just for now, I need to mourn,
My heart - it needs to mend,
Though some may say it's "just a pet",
I know I've lost a friend.

You brought such laughter to my home,
And richness to my days...
A constant friend through joy or loss,
With gentle, loving ways.

Companion, pal, and confidante,
A friend I won't forget.
You'll live for always in my heart,
My sweet, forever pet...
